TEHRAN, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian deputy foreign minister said Thursday that Israel should wait for the consequences of its recent aggression on Syria.

On Wednesday, the Syrian army said that Israel bombed a " scientific research center" northwest of Damascus, and two people were killed and five others injured in the attack. Damages to the facility were also reported.

Condemning the Wednesday attack of Israeli fighter jets on Syria, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Thursday that "The attack on Syria shows the common goals of the Zionist regime and the terrorists," according to semi-official Mehr news agency.

Amir-Abdollahian said "The parties that always have taken aggressive position against Syria should now take serious measures and decisive stance against this invasion."

He also advised Israeli officials not to rely too much on the Patriot missile systems deployed in the region, stressing that their "ineffectiveness" has been already proven in the Israel's eight-day aggression against the Gaza Strip in November 2012, according to Press TV.

He meanwhile urged UN chief Ban Ki-moon to adopt effective measures against the Israeli move.
