San Francisco is on high alert after Boston explosions

Killing three and injuring over 140 others, the Boston explosions rocked the United States. San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee said today that San Francisco is also in heightened alert because it will hold similar events.

Mayor Lee said at the briefing today that they are working to make sure public safety is the number one priority. He said “ I want to reassure in San Francisco that police chief, my office and all emergency workers, are all on high alert.”

He said that the “Bays to Breakers “marathon, a big fun event, will be held in San Francisco in May. Another big international event, the “America’s Cup” will begin in July in San Francisco. He emphasized that tourism is still the number one job and revenue creator. So they will make sure everybody, including tourists in San Francisco is safe.

Jeremiah Rudder, officer of California Highway Patrol said that he has not received a special order to enhance the patrol in San Francisco area. However, the security check before entering the San Francisco City Hall is a little bit stricter than before.

According to local news reports, after the bombing, major US cities including New York, Washington, and Los Angles have also been put on high alert.
