RAMALLAH, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Jewish settlers set fire to Palestinian farms Tuesday in the West Bank as another group broke into the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
The settlers' attacks came amid Palestinian warnings that such acts would lead to an unruly situation on the ground.
Dozens of armed settlers burnt about five acres of crops in Burin village near Nablus city, said Ghassan Daghlas, an anti- settlement activist.
He added that the settlers also hurled stones at Palestinian vehicles, seized two cars and smashed their windows near Za'tara checkpoint, where a knife-wielding Palestinian stabbed to death an Israeli settler last week.
Daghlas said that the Israeli army does not hold the settlers accountable.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Minister of Religious Affairs slammed the Israeli settlers for breaking into the outside yards of al- Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest Islamic shrine, in the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City.
"The daily racist acts by the settlers target the independence of the al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinians, Islamic sovereignty on it," minister Mahmoud al-Habbash said in a statement.
Palestinian sources said that Israel prevented Palestinian worshipers younger than 40 from entering the Temple Mount.
Israel occupied and annexed East Jerusalem, which the Palestinians hope as a future capital, in 1967.
