Four of the rebels were killed in the southern department of Putumayo.

"During the fighting, which took place on the La Esmeralda trail in the town of Puerto Leguizamo, military units killed four members of the 48th front, captured four, and forced another three guerrilla fighters to voluntarily surrender," the military said.
