KABUL, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Seven members of Afghan National Police (ANP) and one soldier with the NATO-led coalition were killed Sunday in two separate roadside bombings in Afghanistan, authorities said.

"Seven ANP members died in Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion in Charmistan area of the Chinarto district in southern Uruzgan province at around midday," the district administrative chief Faiz Mohammad told Xinhua.

In addition, a soldier with the NATO-led coalition was killed in similar attack earlier on Sunday.

"An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member died following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in eastern Afghanistan today," the ISAF said in a press release.

The Taliban insurgent group, which has been waging an insurgency of more than one decade, launched in April this year annual rebel offensive against Afghan and about 100,000 ISAF forces stationed in the country.

In recent year, Taliban uses IEDs to launch roadside bombings against security forces.
