SYDNEY, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Protesters gathered outside Balmain Town Hall in Sydney's inner west on Monday morning, waiting for Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's arrival for a Labor caucus meeting, local media reported.

According to the Australian Associated Press (AAP), about 20 pro-asylum seeker activists chanted outside Balmain Town Hall on Monday morning to protest Rudd's new asylum seeker policy, saying "Refugees yes; racism no. PNG policy has got to go."

Rudd announced on Friday that all asylum seekers arriving Australia by boat would be resettled in Papua New Guinea.

On the other side of Balmain Fire Station, another group of 20 protesters stood silently wearing anti-carbon tax T-shirts holding signs that said "don't forget who started the ALP disaster".
