Female labor force in jungle of India

In the jungle of Narmada, southeast Gujarat of India, women are the main labor force. It is known that the local forestry department plans to develop some land to bamboo forest, so a lot of women from the nearby village are employed to remove weeds for the newly planted bamboo seedlings. They have to conquer the harsh working conditions such as mosquito bites and steep and slippery slopes in the hot and humid rainy season. They are paid about 150 rupees (about 3 U.S. dollars) for working eight hours a day. (Xnhua/Zhen Huansong)
