SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Monday exchanged the final lists of people who will be allowed to take part in the reunion event of families separated by the 1950-53 Korean War, Seoul's Red Cross organization said.

The Korea National Red Cross (KNRC) said in a statement that it sent the final lists of 96 South Koreans who can participate in the reunion event through the liaison office in the truce village of Panmunjom.

Up to 100 people was originally allowed to join the event, but some gave up their participation due to health reasons, the organization said.

Pyongyang also forwarded its list of 100 people who can meet their separated families living in South Korea at the upcoming reunion event scheduled for six days from Sept. 25 in the scenic Mount Kumgang resort.

Seoul and Pyongyang agreed to hold the family reunion on Aug. 23 after holding Red Cross working-level talks. If the reunion is to be hold as planned, it would be the first such meeting to take place since late 2010.
