WELLINGTON, Dec.3 -- A New Zealander is believed to be one of three people injured after a helicopter crash-landed in Antarctica, sources said on Tuesday.

A pilot and two passengers, who worked for the Australian Antarctic Division, were on board when the helicopter crashed near Davis Station on Monday.

New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said the government understood one of the people on board is a New Zealander and it was in contact with the division to offer any assistance, Radio New Zealand reported on Tuesday.

Another helicopter traveling with the three landed immediately after the crash and has been helping the crew. The three were surveying a nearby penguin colony before the crash.
