San Francisco honors legacy of Martin Luther King

San Francisco, Jan.20, (People's Daily Online)----San Francisco has commemorated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monday with its annual MLK Day rallies, march and parade around the Yerba Buena Gardens in the city.

After a 1.5-mile parade, hundreds gathered at Yerba Buena Gardens to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the influential American civil rights leader. Nancy Pelosi, the democratic leader of the United States House of Representatives, said, "It's not enough for us to come together and talk about the legacy of Dr. King and his aspiration. The legacy he left is to have the courage to fight for what he stood for."

Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday in America held on the third Monday of January, celebrating the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr. It falls on Jan. 20 this year.
