RAMALLAH, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Hamas movement, which controls Gaza, called on the Arab League (AL) on Sunday to take serious decisions to end Israeli attacks in Gaza.
The AL "should shift from its confinement under slogans to a serious phase of fruitful work and actions," said Ahmed Bahar, a Hamas official, in a statement.
Envoys of the Arab states to the AL have started emergency meeting on Sunday to examine the situation, especially Israeli attacks in Gaza that started Thursday.
Israel mounted attacks after it accused the Palestinian militants of being behind Thursday's deadly attacks in the Red Sea resort of Eilat.
