It has been reported recently that several large global enterprises are seeking to leave the Greek market. Coca-Cola, for instance, announced in mid-October that it will relocate its Greek headquarters to Switzerland and buy back the shares it floated in the Greek equity market.
For most of the companies now pulling out of Greece, the decision to leave was not motivated by operational difficulties within the country, but mainly by the disappointing local business environment.
While China's economy is relatively stable, local business leaders and financial authorities should still take careful notice of the capital flight happening now in Greece. Despite China's size, the country is not immune to major financial losses during times of economic turmoil. Beijing must pay special attention now to firming up investor confidence in the country as concerns about stability hit economies elsewhere in the world.
