BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhuanet) -- The 2013 Mobile Asia Expo has just ended, in which many mainstream telecom equipment manufacturers who are specialized in TD-LTE have showcased end-to-end solutions and innovative technologies, such as Huawei LampSite, Shanghai Bell lightRadio MRO, ZTE Cloud Radio and so on. At the same time, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks that were absent from the Expo also announced their latest TD-LTE achievements.

The tendering for 207,000 wireless master devices of base stations of China Mobile has pushed TD-LTE to the point of full-force development. C114 was informed in the Expo that Huawei hopes that European telecom equipment manufacturers would become important actors in China TD-LTE construction.

TD-LTE is poised to move; the ecosystem is fast maturing.

Driven by industrial parties, TD-LTE ecosystem has been fast maturing in the past year, laying foundation for large-scale commercial usage.

The system includes Huawei, Shanghai Bell, ZTE, Datang, Nokia Siemens Networks, Ericsson, Putian, New Postcom, FiberHome, Samsung and other domestic and foreign telecom equipment manufacturers who have launched commercial TD-LTE end-to-end solutions and rendered full support to the TD-LTE/LTE FDD platform.

The terminal, previously considered as a shortcoming for the development of TD-LTE, has gradually been made good. According to the statistics of Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), 166 models of TD-LTE terminals have been released around the globe until April 2013, which includes 16 models of TD-LTE smartphones and among which 79% terminals support multimode and multiband.

Meanwhile, all chip manufacturers have launched at least TD-LTE/LTE FDD dual-mode chips, among which Qualcomm launched the six-mode chip and Hass introduced the five-mode chip.

With the rapid development of mobile data services and the increasing scarcity of radio spectrum resources, TDD technology is destined to become the development trend of mobile communication. However, compared to LTE FDD, the TD-LTE at current stage lags far behind in terms of both commercial development and global influence.

The global telecom industry is closely watching the development of China TD-LTE. At this time, the tendering project for China Mobile's TD-LTE construction shall become an important opportunity for TD-LTE to catch up with LTE FDD and achieve "one-third of the global 4G market”.

“All the time, the European telecom equipment providers have brought high-quality and technically-innovative products and services for the market of China Telecom construction, an important driving force of China's booming telecom market." Huawei's carrier networks BG CEO Ding Yun said, "If European manufacturers become the main construction force in the tendering for China Mobile's TD-LTE construction, it shall be conducive to set up global TD-LTE standards and help countries to release more TDD spectrum and invite more operators to choose TD-LTE, thus promoting TD-LTE to the world. Huawei considers the new program of China mobile TD-LTE network construction more appropriate.”
