With a late winner from a free kick Scotland beat Macedonia 2-1 in an away match on Tuesday night in Skopje for its second win in the European Group A World Cup qualifier.

After the less dynamic and sometimes slow play in the first half by both teams, the second half was full with chances on both sides. However, Scottish forward Ikechi Anya in the 60 minute got a precise pass and ran alone in front of the Macedonian goalkeeper Tome Pacovski to open the result.

Macedonian forwards missed a series of good chances before Jovan Kostovski equalized with a shot from close range in 84 minute. Home fans were awaken and made their players put more pressure on the Scottish, but without a final precise shot from the home players.

On the opposite side just two minutes before the end Scotland earned a free kick opportunity which in 88 minute was used without a mistake by Scotland's midfielder Shaun Maloney.

Belgium leads Group A with 22 points before Croatia, 17, and Serbia, 11. Scotland is fourth with 8 points before Macedonia with seven and Wales with six.
