MOSCOW, Oct. 29 -- The sales of last batch of tickets for the Sochi Winter Olympic Games will start next month, head of Russia's Olympic Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko said Tuesday.

Some 60 percent of all the tickets for the Sochi Olympics have been sold, the rest of the tickets for the games will be available to customers electronically and in person at sales booths in Moscow and Sochi starting from November 10, said the official.

Tickets were previously released in two tranches: on February 7 and October 10. Organizers said over 150,000 ticket applications were processed in the first hour of sales earlier this month. The exact number of tickets sold are not available currently.

According to the official online seller, ticket price for the winter games started from 500 rubles (about 16 U.S. dollars) for the ice hockey group games and up to 50,000 rubles (over 1,600 dollars) for the opening ceremony.

On February, the brisk sell-out of the tickets raised suspicions among local observers that the Olympics passes could have been grabbed by organized ticketing squatters who hope to resell them later, despite severe fines (over 33,000 U.S. dollars) the Russian government has introduce for the touts.

The first Winter Olympic Games held in Russia are to take place from Feb. 7 to Feb. 23, 2014 in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi. The Games will feature 98 medal events, 12 more than the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.
