Creators Project in Beijing

Avant-garde artists will gather in September in Beijing for a two-day extravaganza of music and visual arts.

"The Creators Project: Beijing 2012" will run from September 8 to 9 at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in the capital's 798 Art District.

The event will bring together electronic musician James Murphy and indie rock band Real Estate, both from the United States, as well as Chinese acts FM3, Duck Fight Goose, and CNdY.

Fans of Murphy and his former band LCD Soundsystem will be able to enjoy the film "Shut Up and Play the Hits", a new documentary chronicling the influential band's final show in April 2011.

A section devoted to installation art will feature works by American director and photographer Chris Milk and Chinese musician and designer Lou Nanli, better known as B6.

Prominent Chinese theater director Meng Jinghui will meet with the audience to discuss his vision for art.

The Creators Project, a collaboration between Intel Corp. and Vice magazine, is a global initiative that aims to highlight the impact of digital technology on music, art, film and design.
