A British dance troupe treated about 800 people to a combination of old and new Sunday night at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. The 86-year-old Rambert Dance Company is one of the oldest dance groups in the UK, and was among the first to visit China back in 1957.
The dancers have revived Hush, a light-hearted celebration of family life set to music by bobby McFerrin and Yo-Yo Ma.
Mark Baldwin, art supervisor of Rambert Dance Company, said, "Hush is like a family of clowns for them come to rest. What you see is that moment when they come to rest and it is a family that tells us a story about who they are. I'm mom, I'm the cheeky boy. I'm the sister. I'm the father. And we're kind of working family. "
