RABAT, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Morocco on Friday denied reports about the destruction of stone carvings dating back over 8,000 years in the High Atlas mountains by Muslim extremists.
The reports by some media outlets on the destruction of rock carvings in Yagour, located in the High Atlas mountains, are " unfounded," the ministry of culture said in a statement published Friday.
The ministry said all the investigations confirm "the fallacy of these claims," calling on all Moroccans to contribute to the protection of their historical heritage.
