Experts contribute to distributing Chinese culture overseas

Beijing, July 15 (People's Daily Online) -- How to find the right methods to distribute Chinese culture overseas? The question has attracted experts and teachers from around the world to gather at Beijing Foreign Studies University on Monday.

The International Forum on Chinese Culture and Cross-Cultural Communication as well as the opening ceremony of a teacher training program on Chinese Culture and Cross-Cultural Communication was held in Beijing by Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarter) and Beijing Foreign Studies University. The forum was co-organized by the University of Hawaii.

Professorial lecturers from the United States, Germany, Finland, Britain, Italy, India, Australia, South Korea and China, such as Roger T. Ames from the University of Hawaii, will give speeches in the field of "Chinese Culture and Communication" and "Cross-Cultural Communication."

More than 50 trainees from around the world will participate in the one-month training program and discuss cultural differences between China and the West. They will also try to learn the ability of cross-cultural communication.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Ames gave a speech "Reading Chinese Philosophy on Its Own Terms: Finding the Two Sides of the Looking-Glass".

Ma Jianfei, Deputy Director of Hanban and Deputy General Director of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Han Zhen, President of Beijing Foreign Studies University attended the opening ceremony.
