Venezuelan Gabriela Isler crowned as 62nd Miss Universe

The 62nd Miss Universe Pageant has come to a close in Moscow. Venezuelan Gabriela Isler has been crowned, becoming the new Miss Universe.

The 25-year-old is an accomplished flamenco dancer. After the announcement, the tiara fell off her head as she was being crowned and she caught it laughing. Isler’s triumph is the seventh Miss Universe win for Venezuela.

Eighty-six contestants took part in the world famous Miss Universe beauty contest this year. And among them, one contender, from Myanmar, is the first to represent her country in over fifty years.

An estimated one billion viewers, eighty six women, one winner. Miss Universe comes to Russia

But among the contestant’s this year one is making a very long overdue comeback for her native Myanmar.

During decades of military dictatorship entries to the contest were stopped.

Twenty five year old Moe Set Wine is the first woman from Myanmar to compete in Miss Universe for fifty two years.


Though her fellow competitors are probably none too pleased to be up against yet another beauty, everyone is delighted to finally welcome this part of the world back into the Miss Universe.well Universe!
