Award-winning pianist Lang Lang has received another accolade, this time with an academic edge. St. Peter’s College at Oxford University have given the star an Honorary Fellowship. He is the first Chinese artist to be bestowed with the honour. He shared with us his joy and also his thoughts on music education.

At St. Peter’s College at Oxford University, an excited young man receives his "degree" from Dean Mark Damazer. But this is no ordinary degree.
Chinese Pianist Lang Lang received his Honorary Fellowship from the world-renowned university, joining the likes of former US President Bill Clinton, British Prime Minister David Cameron and actor Hugh Grant.

After the ceremony, Lang Lang shared with us his joy and says this will encourage him to do more work with Oxford University to promote music education.

Pianist Lang Lang said, " It’s unbelievable to get this honor....to inspire kids to learn music in more connective ways."

Music education is clearly the musician’s passion, even giving a master-class to students at the college after he received the honor.

The Honorary Fellowship came just weeks after Lang Lang became UN Messenger of Peace in October. But with such honours also come responsibility and big tasks at hand. The pianist says his foundation will work closely with the UN and Oxford University.

" The number is really high. There are over 57 million kids without school...work together to achieve this goal. " Lang Lang said.

And the 31-year old pianist added that he can’t wait to bring his music to these newly-built schools.
