Election methods of 18th CPC National Congress approved

BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Election methods of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) were approved at a presidium meeting held here Saturday afternoon.

The presidium of the 18th CPC National Congress held its second meeting in the Great Hall of the People. The meeting was presided over by Hu Jintao.

The presidium decided to submit the draft resolutions on the report of the 17th CPC Central Committee, the work report of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and the amendment to the Constitution of the CPC to delegations to the congress for discussion.

Xi Jinping, secretary-general of the congress, briefed the presidium on a proposed name-list of nominees for the candidates of members and alternate members of the 18th CPC Central Committee, and members of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

The presidium decided to submit the proposed name-list to all delegations to the congress for consideration.

A name-list of ballot scrutineers was also approved by the presidium, and will be ratified by the congress before the final vote begins.

The presidium of the congress consists of 247 members.

The functions of the 18th CPC National Congress include hearing and examining the report submitted by the 17th CPC Central Committee; examining the report on the work of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection; deliberating and adopting the amendment to the CPC Constitution; and electing the Party's 18th Central Committee and Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
