Liu Qibao -- Member of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee

Liu Qibao is elected as member of the Political Bureau of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Nov. 15, 2012. (Xinhua)

BEIJING, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The following is the biographical sketch of Liu Qibao:

Liu Qibao, born in January 1953, is a male ethnic Han from Susong, Anhui Province. He entered the workforce in September 1974 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in December 1971. He graduated from Jilin University with a major in national economic planning and management, has an in-service postgraduate education and holds a master's degree in economics.

He is currently a member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, and chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress.
