Introduction to 23 vice-chairpersons of 12th CPPCC National Committee

BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) -- A total of 23 people were elected vice-chairpersons of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at a plenary meeting of its first session on Monday.

The following is a brief introduction to them:

Du Qinglin, born in November 1946, is a member of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and also a member of its Secretariat.

Du was vice-chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, and member of the committee's Leading Party Members' Group. He was also head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee from 2007 to 2012.

Du was a member of the 15th, 16th and 17th CPC Central Committees.

Ling Jihua, born in October 1956, is a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Ling was director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee from 2007 to 2012. He was a member of the 17th CPC Central Committee, and a member of its Secretariat.

Han Qide, born in July 1945, is chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiu San Society, one of China's eight non-Communist political parties. He is also chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, and president of Peking University Health Science Center.

Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai, of Tibetan ethnic group, born in February 1940, is honorary president of the Buddhist Association of China, and chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee of the CPPCC.

He was vice-chairman of 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 10th and 11th CPPCC National Committees.

Tung Chee-hwa, born in May 1937, was formerly chief executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He was elected CPPCC National Committee vice-chairman at the Third Session of the 10th CPPCC National Committee, and re-elected vice-chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee.

Wan Gang, born in August 1952, is chairman of the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party (China Public Interest Party), and Minister of Science and Technology. He was vice-chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee.

Lin Wenyi, female, born in September 1944, is chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League. She was vice-chairwoman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee.

Luo Fuhe, born in September 1949, is executive vice-chairman of the China Association for Promoting Democracy Central Committee. He was a deputy to the 8th, 9th and 10th National People's Congress, and vice-chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee.

Edmund Ho Hau Wah, born in March 1955, was vice-chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee. He was formerly chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Zhang Qingli, born in January 1951, is a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee. He was formerly Party secretary of Tibet Autonomous Region.

Li Haifeng, female, born in February 1949, is director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.

Su Rong, born in October 1948, is secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee.

Chen Yuan, born in January 1945, is board chairman and Party secretary of the China Development Bank.

Lu Zhangong, born in May 1952, is a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee.

Zhou Xiaochuan, born in January 1948, is governor and Party secretary of the People's Bank of China.

Wang Jiarui, born in September 1949, is a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Wang Zhengwei, born in June 1957, of Hui ethnic group, is a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and chairman of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Ma Biao, born in August 1954, of Zhuang ethnic group, is a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Qi Xuchun, born in January 1946, of Manchu ethnic group, is executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.

Chen Xiaoguang, born in May 1955, is executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League.

Ma Peihua, born in August 1949, is executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association.

Liu Xiaofeng, born in January 1947, is executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party.

Wang Qinmin, born in December 1948, is chairman of the Executive Committee of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.
