BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leader Liu Yunshan urged relentless efforts in improving the work style of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

He made the remarks at a ceremony held to mark the opening of the new semester of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee on Thursday.

Liu, president of the CPC's top Party school and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said improving the work style is a continuous task for the CPC. He added that such efforts cannot be relaxed.

Meanwhile, Liu said the current work-style campaign should focus on scrapping formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance, and officials must play exemplary roles.

In a bid to win the trust and support of the people, the CPC leadership pledged eight measures to improve the Party's work style and reject extravagance and bureaucracy last December.

On another occasion, Chinese President Xi Jinping called on all Party organs and members to maintain a frugal lifestyle and make determined efforts to oppose ostentation and reject hedonism and extravagance.
