Body of late procurator-general cremated

BEIJING, Sept. 1-- The body of Liu Fuzhi, China's former top procurator, was cremated in Beijing on Sunday.

Liu worked as procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate from 1988 to 1993. He died of illness on Aug. 25 at the age of 96.

Chinese leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan, Zhang Gaoli as well as former leader Hu Jintao attended Liu's funeral Sunday at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in west Beijing, said an official statement.

The statement described Liu as an "outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, a long-tested and loyal Communist fighter, a proletarian revolutionist, and an outstanding leader of the country's political and legal work."
