BEIJING, Oct. 14 -- The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, will continue deliberating a draft amendment to the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests in an upcoming bimonthly session.

The session, which will be held from Oct. 21 to 25, also includes reviewing a draft amendment to the environmental protection law, according to a statement from the NPC Standing Committee chairpersons' meeting on Monday.

The meeting was presided over by committee chairman Zhang Dejiang.

Both draft amendments have been reviewed twice at previous NPC Standing Committee sessions.

Reports from special committees of the NPC, a report of Zhang's diplomatic visits to Uganda, Nigeria, Slovakia and Russia as well as a number of appointments and removals will also be deliberated at the session.
