BEIJING, Feb. 27 -- China's top legislature made a decision Thursday to set December 13 as a national memorial day to commemorate those killed by Japanese aggressors during the Nanjing Massacre.

The decision was made at the three-day session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) which ended on Thursday.

The massacre began in Nanjing on Dec. 13, 1937. More than 300,000 people were murdered by Japanese troops in the following 40-odd days of atrocities.
