BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- A senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has stressed the role of grass-roots officials in the CPC's ongoing "mass-line" campaign.
During a three-day tour of Hubei from Friday to Sunday, Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, visited villages, urban communities, enterprises and government service outlets.
Launched in June 2013, the mass-line campaign is aimed at making the government more accessible to the public, while cleaning up undesirable work styles -- formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance.
Liu said improving work style should start from serving the public and helping them solve specific problems. Governments at grass-roots levels are most accessible to the public, hence have a unique role to play.
While visiting local enterprises, Liu encouraged them to strengthen the building of Party organizations by implementing the mass-line campaign, adding that a better-organized Party organization will help unite enterprises and unleash vigor in day-to-day operation.
