
Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) who is now visiting Myanmar, held talks with Soe Win, deputy commander-in-chief of the Myanmar Defense Services and army commander, on the morning of September 5, 2012 in Nay Pyi Taw, capital of Myanmar. The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern including the relations between the two countries and the two militaries as well as the regional security situation.
Soe Win said Myanmar and China enjoy friendly relations as evidenced by constant high-level reciprocal visits and fast development momentum in mutual-benefit cooperation. The Myanmar side thanks the Chinese side for its constant support and assistance to the Myanmar government, people and military. The Myanmar side cherishes the Myanmar-China traditional friendship and is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to further strengthen the friendly exchange and cooperation between the two militaries and constantly enrich the connotation of the relations between the two countries.
Ma Xiaotian said the situation in the Asia-Pacific region is changing constantly, and maintaining long-term and stable development of the relations between the two countries and the two militaries complies with the common interests of the two sides. The Chinese side speaks highly of the Myanmar side's long-time and valuable support on major issues concerning China's core interests.
Ma Xiaotian noted the Chinese military attaches importance to the development of the relations between the two militaries, and hopes to work with the Myanmar military to promote the consistent and in-depth development of the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership between the two countries.
At the invitation of Soe Win, Ma Xiaotian arrived in Myanmar on September 4, 2012 for an official and friendly visit to Myanmar.
