14:02, September 18, 2012

The signing ceremony of the first collaborative innovation center for prevention and treatment of war trauma of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) was held on August 29, 2012 at the Third Affiliated Hospital of the Third Military Medical University of the PLA. The center was jointly established by seven military and civilian units including the Third Military Medical University of the PLA, the Academy of Military Medical Science (AMMS) of the PLA, the General Hospital of the PLA and the China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP).

Relying on the well-functioned State Key Laboratory of Trauma, Burns and Combined Injury and its established national key disciplines including field surgery, burn surgery and military preventive medicine, the center determined four research directions, i.e., the transformation as well as the research and development of innovation theories and key technologies of prevention and treatment of war trauma, field medical equipment, and the equipment and medicines for rescue and treatment of war trauma, so as to minimize the fatality rate and disability rate of war trauma and effectively improve medical service support capability in wartime and disaster medical rescue capability in peacetime.

Meanwhile, the center focuses on discipline construction, personnel training and scientific research to establish a long-term mechanism that can help to stimulate innovation and promote rapid development of the war trauma research.
