A trial operation ceremony for the website of the College of Defense Studies of the National Defense University (NDU) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) (www.cdsndu.org), the first military academy website of China, was held on September 14, 2012.

Xu Caihou, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), expressed his congratulations on the website opening.

The website of the College of Defense Studies of the NDU will become a window to display the good image of the PLA and a carrier to promote international cultural exchanges, especially military cultural exchange, thus improving the world's understanding of the PLA and publicizing the idea of a harmonious world of "lasting peace and common prosperity".

The website is available in five languages, namely Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. The foreign versions are based on the Chinese edition with more consideration for cultural background and reading habits of overseas netizens. The home page of the website has 15 columns including China's National Defense, PLA in Action, Chinese Military Culture and China in Foreign Officers' Eyes.

The College of Defense Studies of the NDU is the highest organization of China's foreign military training. Nearly 500 senior officers and government defense officials from 100-odd countries and regions come to the college for study and exchanges every year. So far, more than 4,000 students have graduated from the college.
