At the invitation of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), nearly 40 army attachés and deputy army attachés as well as defense attachés in charge of army affairs in China from 30-odd countries went to Xi'an, capital city of China's Shaanxi Province, to visit an air-defense brigade under the Lanzhou Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Frontier Defense College of the PLA from October 10 to 12, 2012.
During their visit, the foreign military attachés listened to the briefings on the air-defense brigade and the Frontier Defense College, visited some equipment and facilities of the brigade and college, and communicated with the officers and men of the brigade and the carders, teachers and cadets of the college.
It is widely believed among the military attachés that the constantly improved equipment and teaching and living facilities as well as the professional education and rigorous training of the Chinese military, and the open and frank attitude as well as the spirit of devotion to their work and daring to fight of the officers and men left them a deep impression.
In recent years, besides annual visit and investigation to the outside of Beijing, the MND has also annually organized foreign army, naval and air attachés to visit troop units and academies of corresponding services and arms of the PLA, in a bid to enhance their understanding of the PLA's development and construction, promote their exchanges with Chinese officers and men, and deepen the friendship between the Chinese and foreign militaries.
