Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), recently toured the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
At the NUDT, Guo Boxiong inspected the teaching and research facilities and barracks, watched the exhibition of major scientific research achievements and had cordial talks with the cadets.
During the talks with leaders, experts and professors of the NUDT, Guo Boxiong hoped the faculty of the university to constantly enhance capacity for independent innovation and strive to master a batch of core technologies in some major research fields, so as to make new and greater contributions to promoting the strategy of building a strong military through science and technology. Guo Boxiong stressed that cultivating new-type and high-caliber military personnel is a fundamental responsibility of military academies under the new situation.
It is imperative to give full play to the advantages of the NUDT and give prominence to the cultivation of qualified scientific research professionals, so as to make due contributions to improving the scientific and technological qualities of the PLA, Guo said. By An Puzhong and Wang Wowen
