An engineering protection system developed by the Chemical Defense Research Institute under the General Armaments Department (GAD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) passed the assessment of the second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award and 10-odd new types of chemical defense equipment developed by the institute were officially unveiled on a drill ground on October 15, 2012. The scientific researchers of the institute held that it was the standardized construction of laboratories that brought about the rapid promotion of scientific research strength.
In recent years, the institute has taken standardization as a breakthrough in improving the construction of laboratories, drawn on management concepts of advanced laboratories at home and abroad, continually carried out the activity entitled "Year of Standardized Management of Laboratories", established and improved supporting systems for laboratory management, and realized fine management and control of all elements including personnel management, facility environment and document recording.
The reporters saw at laboratories of the institute that there were clear standards from scientific research experiment process to indoor material arrangement.
Standardized laboratory management has improved the effectiveness of scientific research and promoted the continuous improvement of scientific research capacity. In recent years, a large number of scientific research achievements made by the institute have won national and military awards and the development time of major scientific research projects has been reduced year by year.
