China approves committee for choosing military legislators

BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- China on Friday approved the composition of an electoral committee of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), which will choose new national legislators from the military.

Legislators of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee approved the formation of the PLA electoral committee submitted by the Central Military Commission (CMC).

CMC Vice Chairman Fan Changlong acts as the committee's director. Xu Qiliang and Zhang Yang are deputy directors.

Chang Wanquan, Fang Fenghui, Zhao Keshi, Zhang Youxia, Wu Shengli, Ma Xiaotian, Wei Fenghe, Du Jincai, Wu Changde, Qin Shengxiang and Liu Bin are members of the electoral committee.

The electoral committee will choose new NPC deputies from the PLA. The deputies will serve a term of five years.

The first annual session of the 12th NPC will convene on March 5, 2013, according to a decision adopted Friday at a meeting of the 11th NPC Standing Committee.
