16th medical team of PLA sets off to aid Zambia

The 16th medical team of the Chinese People' Liberation Army (PLA) left the No. 175 Hospital of the Nanjing Military Area Command (MAC) for Zambia on the afternoon of Jan 20, 2013 on a one-year-long mission of medical assistance.

This medical team consisting of 11 members includes doctors and nurses as well as medical equipment technicians specializing in 10 majors such as internal medicine, surgery, medical imaging, equipment maintenance, etc. They are proficient in operating equipment for type-B ultrasonic diagnoses, ECG, hemodialysis and CT and able to make diagnoses and treatments independently against various common and frequently-occurring diseases. They have participated in the support work for many large-scale military activities with rich experience in clinical treatments and field rescues.
