JAKARTA, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Army Chief of Staff General Pramono Edhie Wibowo said on Monday that the army was ready to help police in investigating the attacks on Sunday on prison in Yogyakarta that killed four prisoners.

Pramono Edhie Wibowo made the statement following rumors that the perpetrators of the attack are well-trained persons, which hints a speculation that they might be militants or those from military.

"We are ready to help. Should the police ask for (personal) to help, we must provide (the personal) with any number requested," he said at the State Palace.

Local army chief in Yogyakarta has checked over possible implication of his personal and claimed that there was no evidence showing his personals' involvement in the attack.

Seventeen unidentified gunmen attacked Cebongan prison in Sleman of Yogyakarta Saturday, killing four prisoners and injuring eight prison officers.

The attackers fired their guns to the air when they entered the prisons at 1:30 a.m. local time, according to local Metro television.

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Djoko Suyanto ordered National Police Chief General Timor Pradopo and Armed Force Commander Admiral Agus Suhartono to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
