BEIJING, April 17, (ChinaMil) -- Upon the issuance of the white paper named Diversified Employment of China's Armed Forces, Rear Admiral Guan Youfei, director of Foreign Affairs Office of Ministry of National Defense of the People's Republic of China, granted an exclusive interview to reporter of PLA Daily.

White paper on national defense aims to introduce Chinese military forces to the outside world

Guan Youfei holds that to faithfully fulfill its mission and tasks, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has established a strategic thought of "effectively handle multiple safety threats and fulfill diversified military tasks", and carried out a large amount of diversified military operations with rich contents. Diversification has become a prominent feature for the application of armed forces.

Some people asked "Does the PLA's frequent going abroad mean a change of its defensive national defense policy? Would it pose any threat to other countries?" and "Would the missions like disaster-relief and international peacekeeping frequently carried out by the PLA affect its combat effectiveness and undermine its capability to defend the nation?" Other people claimed "Now that China's military strength is well-developed, it has not done a good job on fulfilling international obligation." Faced with these doubts, we feel that it is necessary to give an authoritative and in-depth introduction on the policy principles and practice for the application of China's armed forces.
