Chief of Singaporean Navy visits South China Sea Fleet

ZHANJIANG, July 19 (ChinaMil) -- Rear Admiral Ng Chee Peng, chief of the Navy of the Republic of Singapore, and his party visited the South China Sea Fleet of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN) on July 18, 2013.

Vice Admiral Jiang Weilie, deputy commander of the Guangzhou Military Area Command (MAC) of the PLA and commander of the South China Sea Fleet of the PLAN, accompanied Rear Admiral Ng Chee Peng to review the guard of honor of the fleet and held talks with him.

Jiang Weilie briefed the Singaporean guests on the South China Sea Fleet and Zhanjiang city of south China's Guangdong province, reviewed the friendly contacts between Chinese and Singaporean navies, especially those between the South China Sea Fleet and the Singaporean Navy, and expressed his willingness to make positive contributions to further developing friendly and pragmatic exchanges and cooperation between the two navies.

Ng Chee Peng was grateful to the South China Sea Fleet for its warm reception and thoughtful arrangements, and he hoped to take this visit as an opportunity to further deepen mutual understanding and promote friendly cooperation between the two navies, and also expected that the Chinese warships would revisit Singapore.

During the visit, Ng Chee Peng and his party also visited China's new-type guided missile frigate "Hengshui" and the amphibious dock landing ship "Changbai Mountains".
