|China-Australia Military Culture and Friendship Week kicks off in Canberra, Australia on Sept 25, 2013.（People's Daily Online/He Ji）|
SEP26, CANBRRA (People's Daily Online/Xue Meng) --- The China-Australia Military Culture and Friendship Week was kicked off at the Llywellyn Hall in Canberra, Australia on Sept 25, 2013. A joint concert performed by the Military Band of People's Liberation Army(PLA) of China and the Australian Army Band was brought to the audiences.
Prior to the concert, General Zhang Yang, member of the General Military Commission of PRC, Chief of the General Political Department of PLA of China send his congratulations to this culture exchange event. He said that cultural exchange is a project of common aspiration, and music provides the link between different civilisations. He believes that the collaborative performance will further closer relations between the two armies as well as the two countries, motivate practical communication and cooperation between both sides and play an important role in building a strategic partnership based on mutual trust and benefit between China and Australia.
Mr. Dennis Richardson, Secretary of the Australian Department of Defence also send his congratulations. He said that China is an important partner for Australia and Australia value these opportunities to enhance cooperation, dialogue and communication between the two Defence organisations.
The H.E. Ma Zhaoxu, Chinese Ambassador to Australia, also attended this concert.
The concert lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. Around 1500 people joined the event, including senior officers from Australian Army and Australian government, representatives from Chinese enterprises, overseas Chinese, students and so on.
