Foreign military attaché corps in China hold annual banquet

BEIJING, November 25 (ChinaMil) -- The foreign military attaché corps in China held an annual banquet on the evening of November 22, 2013 in Beijing. Fang Fenghui, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), attended the banquet upon invitation.

On behalf of all the foreign military attachés in China, Colonel Heinz Assmann, head of the foreign military attaché corps and Austrian defense attaché to China, delivered a welcoming speech, in which he expressed his gratitude to the Chinese military for its support and assistance for all the foreign military attachés in China in the past year and spoke highly of the constant development of friendly relations between the Chinese military and various militaries.

A representative of the Chinese side expressed that the Chinese military will further strengthen friendly exchanges and mutual cooperation with various militaries, actively take part in regional and international security affairs and jointly respond to various security threats, so as to make new contributions to maintaining world peace and promoting common development.

More than 200 military attachés from over 70 countries were present at the annual banquet together with their spouses.

Wang Guanzhong, deputy chief of general staff of the PLA, Du Jincai, deputy director of the General Political Department (GPD) of the PLA, Liu Zheng, deputy director of the General Logistics Department (GLD) of the PLA, Lu Xicheng, deputy director of the Science and Technology Commission under the General Armaments Department (GAD) of the PLA, and leaders in charge of relevant organizations of the PLA stationed in Beijing were invited to the banquet.
