A Chinese consumer surnamed Zheng, who lives in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, told the reporter with on July 24 that she found a fly in a carton of Wang Zai milk she bought in early July.

However, Ms. Wang, an after-sales quality manager at Want Want China Holdings, the manufacturer of Wang Zai milk, said, “It is impossible to find foreign matter in our products. Our milk undergoes high-temperature processing. Even if there was really a fly, it would have disappeared due to high temperatures.”

Food safety expert Dong Jinshi does not agree with Wang’s explanation, saying, “The company should check whether there is something wrong with its management system.”

Zheng did not find the fly until the last sip. “After taking the last sip, I felt like there were some vegetable tops on my tongue, and then vomited it on my hand. It turned out to be a fly.”

Zheng said she would no longer drink Wang Zai milk.

The reporter called Want Want China Holdings over the issue, but Wang, the after-sales quality manager, replied that it was impossible to find foreign bodies in the company’s products. “It is hard to say how the foreign body entered the carton of milk, but I am certain there was no fly in the milk during the factory delivery inspection,” Wang said.
