DALIAN, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- More than 200 policemen selected from special forces nationwide gathered in northeast China's port city of Dalian on Friday for the forces' first national competition.
The officers competed in a variety of areas, testing their skills in boxing and shooting firearms, among others.
The competitors were also required to compete in simulated scenarios which duplicated a bus hijacking in south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in June 2011 and a hostage situation that occurred in Beijing in July this year.
Officials with the Ministry of Public Security said the event was held to boost the officers' training and improve their ability to handle emergencies.
About 40 judges from home and abroad were invited to supervise the event.
