The manager of a convenience store in Haidian district was arrested for suspected embezzlement, said Haidian prosecutors Monday, the Beijing Evening News reported.

The suspect, surnamed Hu, became the store's manager in 2009. From March 2010 to this July, he recharged nearly 90,000 yuan ($14,436) to his three smart cards using the recharge machine in the store.

The missing cash was discovered during an audit in August this year.
