Animation convention set for December

The International Comic and Animation Convention will be held in Beijing from Dec 1 to Dec 9, the organizing committee said on Nov 19.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Beijing Municipal Government and Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, ICAC is the largest international animation-themed activity that's hosted in Beijing.

More than 30 animation publishing houses and about 150 animation companies from the United States, Japan, France and South Korea will attend the convention. They will bring more than 20 animation films and more than 3,000 animation derivatives to the exposition.

This convention also works with the China Academy Awards, an authoritative appraisal institution in the comic and animation sector, to appraise a series of comic works and animation films and clips from students of Chinese universities and colleges.

"These universities and colleges taking part in the selection include Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute," said Xiao Ou, deputy secretary-general of China Academy Awards' organizing committee.
