Get your skates on early

Several outdoor ice-skating rinks, including those in Zizhuyuan Park and Yuyuantan Park will open to the public earlier than last year, the Legal Mirror reported Monday.

The ice on the lake in Zizhuyuan Park at 10 am Monday was already 7 centimeters thick, 5 centimeters thicker than that at the same period last year.

An anonymous staff member from the park said that the temperature in early December this year is 2.7 C lower than at this time in 2011.

"When the ice is 15 centimeters thick, people can ice-skate on the lake," he said.

The rink in Yuyuantan Park also confirmed it will open earlier than usual.
