On Dec. 21, 2012, Du Guanghua, who did steel mesh business in Yongkang city, Zhejiang province, unfortunately died in saving one of his employees who slipped down into the river after attending the company’s celebration of winter solstice.
Born in north China’s Hebei Province, 31-year-old Du came to Zhengjiang 10 years ago to start his own business. He became a billionaire thanks to his wits and his willingness to bear hardships.
Losing the only son, Du’s father is overwhelmed with great sorrow.
Some people thought it’s a bad bargain for Du Guanghua, a successful businessman, to rescue his employee at the cost of his own life.
However, Du’s father disagrees by saying “The rescued employee was brought out of our hometown for my son’s business; how could we face up to his parents if we failed to bring him back?”
On the Christmas Eve in 2012, people living in Yongkang city gathered on the riverside where Du rescued his employee, with flowers and lighted candles to remember Du.
