Suspected food poisoning kills 1, sickens 20 in N China

HOHHOT, April 24 (Xinhua) -- One person has been confirmed dead and another 20 are being treated in the hospital after eating at the site of a road construction project in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The workers on the project to expand the Beijing-Tibet Expressway in Baotou City began showing symptoms associated with food poisoning around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to municipal authorities.

The 20 people in the hospital are all in stable condition.

The city government has sent investigators from the health bureau, food and drug administration and public security department to investigate the incident.
