2 killed, 1 injured in man's street knife attacks in Beijing

Police in Beijing try to control a man from inside a car this afternoon. The man is reported to have killed two and injured another with a knife on the street near the Guangqumen Bridge. The alleged assailant was injured in the capture and died later.

A rampaging man attacked car drivers and passengers with a knife on the street about 2pm today in Beijing, China's capital, China Central Television reported. Two people were killed in the attacks while another was still being treated in hospital.

The rampage took place near the Guangqumen Bridge, CCTV reported. The assailant was injured when police tried to capture him and later died despite emergency rescues.

The motive of his attacks is still being investigated by police.
